Born September 12, 1952 in Marion, Iowa
Robert grew up in a household very similar to "Leave it to Beaver"
except Wally was played by his loving sister Joan.
Innocence is the word that describes the world of Robert's youth.
A paper route, baseball, and adventures centering around the 'Indian Creek Neighborhood'
formed the bases around the loving family and community which surrounded him.
His high school years were filled with sports.
Basketball, football and baseball were the games he played.
He also participated in student government
and managed to study just enough to maintain the national honor society.
Higher education found Robert wandering the hillside of Cornell College.
It was here that 'questioning and seeking ' answers to life's most perplexing problems began.
"What is education?" "Who am I ?" "Where am I going?" "Who is the creator?"
"Where can I meet him/her?"
Robert graduated with a degree in special studies,
and a major in psychology with strong interests and beliefs in the art of life long independent learning.
Following his formal education Robert worked for a year at FMC as a crane operator,
St Luke's Hospital psychiatric ward, and the local book store.
During this time he wrote his first book, "Graduate School at FMC."
Throughout the year he read an enormous amount and became influenced by the works
of Henry Miller, Allan Watts, Herman Hesse, and the biographies of major artists.
In the summer of 1975 Robert fled the United States for Europe and 'the life of an artist.'
And the journey began.
Luxembourg, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Naples, Florida; Carefree, Arizona; Lajolla and Del Mar, California; Peace City ( A walk across America), Aspen, Colorado, Peace City,Russia; Old Snowmass,Colorado; Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico; and a return home to Iowa.
Along the path of my journey of searching for the creator I produced artifacts.
The artworks are organized by a series of art shows
marking distinctive periods of 'intention ' weaving throughout my life.
Here I stand, looking back at my series of seven art shows
based on my masterpiece
"The Testament of Will"
holding in my hands the icons and symbols of "Infinite and Eternal Blessings"
and wondering what the future holds for
"Freedom and the Art of Peace."
